Eligibility Criteria for the Canadian Experience Class

Canadian Work Experience: At least one year of full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work experience in Canada, within the last three years. This experience must be in a National Occupational Classification (NOC) 0, A, or B job.
Language Proficiency: Proof of language ability in English or French, with minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels of 7 for NOC 0 or A jobs, and CLB 5 for NOC B jobs.
Education: There is no minimum education requirement for the CEC. However, education can enhance your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
Admissibility: Must pass medical exams and security background checks.
Intent to Live Outside Quebec: Applicants must intend to live outside the province of Quebec, which has its own immigration programs.

Steps to Apply through the Canadian Experience Class

Determine Your Eligibility: Assess your eligibility based on your Canadian work experience, language proficiency, and other criteria.
Create an Express Entry Profile: Complete your profile on the IRCC’s Express Entry portal, providing detailed information about your work experience, language skills, and other factors.
Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA): If your Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score is high enough, you will receive an ITA to apply for permanent residency.
Submit Your Complete Application: After receiving an ITA, submit a full application online, including all required documents such as police certificates, medical exams, and proof of work experience.
Attend Biometrics Appointment: Provide biometric information (fingerprints and photo) at a visa application center (VAC).
Wait for Decision: Track your application status online and respond to any additional requests from IRCC.
Receive Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR): If approved, you will receive a COPR and, if applicable, a permanent resident visa.

The cost for applying through the CEC under the Express Entry system is CAD $1,365 for the primary applicant, including the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF). Additional fees apply for family members, dependents, and third-party services (e.g., language tests). The average processing time for a CEC application submitted through Express Entry is approximately 6 months, from the date of submission to the final decision. This timeframe may vary depending on individual circumstances.

Once you receive your permanent residency through the CEC, you can:

Live, Work, and Study Anywhere in Canada: PR holders can choose any province or territory to settle in, except Quebec.
