TBILSI MEDICAL ACADEMY

Tbilisi Medical Academy was founded in 1992 by notable Georgian physician, pediatric surgeon, Petre Shotadze. After graduation of Tbilisi State Medical University in 1970, whole his doctoral, scientific and academic activities were connected to Tbilisi State Institute of Postgraduate Education for Physicians, where he went from being a postgraduate student to the Head of Pediatric Surgery and to the Rector. In 1999, following the demise of Dr. Shotadze, Tbilisi Medical Academy was renamed as “Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy”. Since its foundation, TMA has grown up more then 1700 graduates who work successfully in leading Georgian and International Hospitals, Universities and Scientific Centres. 
   
Petre Shotadze Tbilisi Medical Academy (TMA) has been successfully implementing the one-step educational program of Medicine since 2012, with English as the language of instruction.

The 6-year degree program enables students to attain education of international quality assurance standards while studying in Georgia. The program is guided by the cutting-edge curricula, similar to those implemented in European and American universities, and fully meets the international requirements in the field of Medicine.

The teaching is led by experienced faculty and professors, based on the latest and up-to-date foreign textbooks and educational material. The assessment and examination systems applied by TMA are compliant to international standards defined by the Bologna process. The latter prepares students for international qualification examinations (USMLE, PLAB, MCI etc.) from the earliest steps of their learning and promotes internationalization of the students.

In the learning process, students have the opportunity to strengthen their theoretical knowledge in the laboratory and clinical skills center of the Academy and to practice clinical medicine at the University Clinic of TMA, as well as other leading medical institutions of Tbilisi.

The annual tuition, student’s fee for Georgian citizens is 4000 Georgian Lari (GEL), while for foreign citizens the fee is 7000 United States Dollars (USD) equivalent in GEL.
As of today, more than 300 students from Georgia and foreign countries are enrolled in the English program of MEDICINE. The international students come from the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, India, Bhutan, Nigeria and other countries.

The Academy offers an enabling environment and complete set of resources for professional growth and development of every student. TMA students participate in various exchange program, summer schools and scientific events, both in Georgia and abroad.

Distinguished Georgian students enrolled in the English program of MEDICINE are entitled to different incentives.

Admission Procedure

Tbilisi Medical Academy welcomes international students from around the world. The students are welcomed to commence education.

Available Program: 6-year MD Program.
Tuition Fee: 7000 $ (each year)
Admission Fee: 200$ (paid only after online interview with Admission Officer)

Payment Plan

First year tuition fee should be paid in one installment, during the enrollment process. From second year, tuition fee can be paid in two installments, before the commencement of each semester. The language of instruction is – English.

The required documents for application are:

• Passport copy
• School leaving certificate.
• Filled application form and letter.
• NEET exam result (For applicants from India only)

For transferring students:

• Passport copy
• Transcript (including gained credits and covered hours) from home university
• Filled application form and letter

The applicant has to demonstrate motivation and good knowledge of the English language (B2) to the University admission committee. It is mandatory to attend an online interview via the Zoom application. Applicants who provide proof of proficiency in English will be prioritized.


*TMA leads and assists all the processes related to an admission that include: translation, legalization, and recognition of the applicant’s documents from the authorities of Georgia.
*The whole admission process takes approximately 21-30 days.

Visa and Immigration:

Medical Insurance:

Prior commencement of Semester, it is mandatory for all students to hold valid Local Medical Insurance. Prices for local insurance packages vary from 7 up to 25 USD per month.
